I've been trying to get GenoPro to run using Wine. It worked once but now, following an operating system upgrade, it will not. Does anyone have experience running GenoPro beta using WINE?

Please share your expertise.

Thanks
Norman

I finally tried again clearing everything including GenoPro (stable not beta). While reinstalling GenoPro the intstallation program recognized a missing file. I allowed it download that from the GenoPro website (InstallMfcDLL.exe). Installed the file now everything works.

I too am trying to run 1.99c or 2.0 using wine in Kubuntu,
current version. Pentium 4 with 512 Meg Ram.

I can install either and run them a little bit but then something always goes wrong.
In 2.0 the pop up boxes for individuals are hard to write to and are mostly empty
when opening an old data base, except for one letter in each line.
Panning in 1.99 freezes. 2.0 can't generate reports, etc, etc.

Anybody get them to work, completely???

I want to leave Windows but I want to take GenoPro with me.

Thanks in advance,
Panther

GenoPro compatible with Wine (Linux and Mac)

The newly released 2.0.0.5 version of GenoPro has been modified to be functional under Wine (http://www.winehq.org/) and it has been tested with the Linux Operating System. Although not all functionalities of GenoPro are working to their full capacity, you can view and edit your family trees on GenoPro.

Wine claims to be compatible with Mac (Intel based), we would appreciate if some Mac user can test it out and give us feeback about it.

All your comments or questions regarting Linux and Mac compatibility should be posted in our support forum.

In 2.0 the pop up boxes for individuals are hard to write to and are mostly empty when opening an old data base, except for one letter in each line.

There is a conversation regading this issue at All data for a person gets lost when I try to edit.  Unfortunately, I never got feedback.  If you wish to download http://www.genopro.com/download/InstallGenoProWine.exe, you could provide feedback and I will find a workaround to get this bug fixed.
