Just realized something, which hopefully can be fixed.
When using vertical text alignment for individuals it apparently affects also the text label on marriage lines, which can be seen when opening with Inkscape. The vertical margin becomes very big, although nothing can be seen unless you hover over the lines with your mouse.(or select all)

I am unable to reproduce an obvious problem here. Perhaps you could provide an Inkscape screen shot showing such a selected object or a sample .gno that exhibits the problem? Does it affect the display in the Adove SVG Viewer as well?

I hope this image gives you the necessary hints. The rectangle in the round logo at the buttom comes from another marriage line below. If you need the gno file, please let me know.

Doesn't seem to happen all the time with vertical text:

So a sample .gno would help.

Have mailed a gno file with Japanese individuals. Tried a SVG chart, created under English Windows ME, and opened on Japanese Windows XP with inkscape, same result as shown above. Created a SVG chart with English names only, unfortunately also the same result. So it might have something to do with Japanese Windows version?
