| I've put on a woman with three children and they are all linked to her husband (A), however I now know that the oldest child was from a previous relationship (B). How can I change the oldest child so that he no longer has man A as his father so I can link him to a new man B. This is not the first time this has happened and in the past I have ended up deleting all the children and partners and putting them in again in the right order. Any help would be very much appreciated and time saving. Many thanks.

Helen, delete the current relationship line, leaving the child unrelated. Select child by 'right click' and choose 'link as child' dragging new relationship line to the correct father or father/mother union.

First thing is to delete the link between the child and the family (horizontal line)
Then create the new father, by selecting mother and adding new mate.
You may have to move this new horizontal line down and make sure it 'links' the two vertical lines of the parents.
Select the child and link as child

| excellent - many thanks - problem now understood and solved - you have saved me hours!! (I use the genograms for work rather than my own family and so do lots of three generational family trees - hence why this problem keeps cropping up)
