| This post serves as a placeholder for the latest 'Export to Gedcom' skin as I found it very difficult tracking down my last post with an update attached! If you have and comments/suggestions/bugs please start a new topic in the appropriate sub-forum rather than replying to this post. That way users can hopefully find the attachment quickly Update: 2009/03/26 minor amendment to bring options dialog window to foreground Update: 2009/06/04 another mod to fix cross-referenced pictures for Gedcom 5.5.1. draft

Ron,
Using the Export to Gedcom report to move from GenoPro to FTM 2009. The GEDCOM imports well but I have a problem with images that are tagged to more than one individual (e.g family group photos) They come into FTM as multiple repeated versions of the same media (to use FTM speak). This is fine when using FTM on my PC (as they all cross reference back to the same source photo in my images directory) but the issue comes when uploading to ancestry.co.uk as a gedz file (the main reason for the export in the first place). FTM then makes multiple copies of the jpg file and I end up with a gedz file of over 130Mb (which is over their upload limit).
So ... any way that multiple references to the same picture object could all point at th same picture??
Thanks Guy

| I thought I had this covered but when I checked the code it was incomplete (must have been a Friday afternoon or after midnight!). Attachment to 1st post now updated (RC4). You will need to select the option to use the Gedcom 5.5.1 draft standard as this is the only way the Gedcom can contain multiple xrefs to the same external object. I don't know if FTM 2009 accepts this format but I guess you will let us know I assume in your .gno where you have several references to the same picture you have selected the same GenoPro picture object - i.e. when selecting the second & subsequent references to a picture you used the 'Pick' button to locate an existing GenoPro object rather than the 'New' button creating an additional picture object.

Ron,
I had tried the 5.5.1 option previously and wondered why there were no picture objects created. I had figured out that Pictures and XrefPictures were not set but you had fixed it before I could help!!!
And yes - for the most part my multi-person pictures all referred to the same object in Genopro using the "Pick" technique. And now, spurred on by the GEDCOM success, I have now sorted all the rest out. Thank goodness for "Consolidate picture" in the table view.
Thanks again
Guy

| Hi, this is not directly related to the topic you are discussing. I am exporting my Genopro file to a gedcom fil, however, regardless of whether I choose format or report genertor, when I open the file in Family tree maker I am only getting some of the family tree. Can you suggest what I am doing wrong.
